Questions
How does the Password Generator work?
Choose a length and the character types to include, then press Generate. The generator uses a strong platform random source in your browser. Every enabled character type appears at least once in the result.
What password length should I use?
Longer passwords have more possible combinations. A length of 16 is a practical default. You can choose any whole number from 4 through 128.
What characters can the generator include?
You can include uppercase letters A–Z, lowercase letters a–z, numbers 0–9, and a fixed set of common ASCII symbols. At least one of those types must stay enabled.
What are ambiguous characters?
Ambiguous characters are I, l, 1, O, and 0, which are easy to confuse. Turn on Exclude ambiguous characters to omit them from generated passwords.
Does every selected character type appear in the password?
Yes. If a character type is enabled, the generated password includes at least one character from that type.
Why does a longer password generally provide more possibilities?
Each extra character multiplies the number of possible passwords, especially when more character types are enabled. Account security also depends on how a password is stored and used.
Does IngoHub store generated passwords?
No. Passwords are generated in your browser for this page session and are not stored or sent to an IngoHub account or API.
Can I use generated passwords for my accounts?
Yes, you can use a generated password with an account. IngoHub does not guarantee that a password will resist every attack or suit every system. Prefer unique passwords and a password manager where appropriate.
